‘I Must Have Someone Else’s Blues’ is a somewhat lighthearted song in sharp relief to some of the heavier material on the new album, ‘A Forest Of Arms.’ I was thrilled with the direction that Christopher Mills and Gaëlle Legrand took with the video. Their animations create a world that the song lives in, where there’s a journey of sorts through a forest maze, and a central bird character that loses its head and ultimately finds it again. It is a stunningly peculiar and spritely interpretation of the song that ‘gets it’ on a deeper level, all the while dovetailing with images and themes found elsewhere on the album. Sesto album di studio per la formazione canadese che richiama territori sconfinati, armoniche, chitarre acustiche e banjo. A Forest Of Arms arriva a tre anni di distanza dal precedente – e ben riuscito – New Wild Everywhere e anche questa volta non tradisce le aspettative dei numerosi fan di Tony Dekker e band. Ritmiche impetuose, violini affilati, banjo prosperosi e chitarre libere: sono questi gli ingredienti di A Forest Of Arms, uscito il 28 aprile per Nettwerk Music Group/Self. Come i precedenti, anche il nuovo disco è stato registrato in diverse località nel corso di vari mesi, coprendo e scoprendo nuovi territori ma senza contagiare il “marchio di fabbrica” che da sempre caratterizza Great Lake Swimmers. Un album registrato nel bel mezzo della natura, e verrebbe da dire, con il contributo della natura, data la tipicità di alcuni suoni e la trasparenza emotiva che da essi ne traspare.

Prodotto e registrato da Justin Shane Nace e mixato da Howie Beck (Feist), A Forest Of Arms è il sesto lavoro di studio della band, ma l’ottavo per Dekker che, nel 2013, ha realizzato un disco solita, Prayer Of The Woods e nel 2014 Tony Dekker Sings 10 Years Of Zunior, un album tributo in occasione del decennale di Zunior, distributore digitale canadese di contenuti musicali.
