Ron Sexsmith torna con “The
Last Rider”, il nuovo album in uscita il 21 aprile per Cooking
Vinyl/Edel. 15 nuovi brani per il talentuoso cantautore canadese, che, con
il nuovo disco, spazia da canzoni allegre e spiritose a melodie tristi,
romantiche, sdolcinate e spirituali. A differenza dei precedenti lavori, “The
Last Rider” è stato registrato ai Bathouse Studio (Lago di Ontario,
Canada) da Sexsmith e dalla band che
lo segue in tour da anni: Don Kerr (batteria), Jason Mercer (basso), Dave
Matheson (tastiere) and Kevin Lacroix (chitarra). Prodotto da Ron and Don Kerr,
amici e collaboratori sin dagli anni ottanta, “The Last Rider” è un
album pieno di aspettative!
“I think my sound has always been a
combination of the folk singers and British invasion artists I’ve always
admired,” says Ron. “At this point, it’s
just second nature for me to write short, melodic songs that say everything you
want to say. But having my band totally involved on this album maybe brought
out more in the songs than on other recent albums. It felt special, anyway.” – Ron Sexsmith

Ron Sexsmith was born and bred
near Niagara Falls. He has
released 13 albums to date - Grand Opera Lane (1991), Ron Sexsmith (1995),
Other Songs (1997), Whereabouts (1999), Blue Boy (2001), Cobblestone Runway
(2002), Retriever (2004), Destination Unknown (2005, with Don Kerr, released
as Sexsmith & Kerr), Time Being (2006), Exit Strategy Of The Soul (2008),
Long Player Late Bloomer (2011), Forever Endeavour (2013) and Carousel One
(2015).
His new album ‘The
Last Rider’, a pun on The Last Supper (as opposed to a jockey who can’t get
out of the paddock), is as great a summation of Ron Sexsmith’s talents as there ever was, so do yourself a favour
