Che cosa possono avere in comune Dallas e l’India? Poco o nulla. Ecco da dove arriva l’originalità di questo duo chiamato Chopigula (si pronuncia chaw-pig-yoo-la), che si presenta con un lungo EP di 7 brani (lungo come un vero album) intitolato Sunshine Over The Circus, edito dall’etichetta Americana (di Austin - TX) Shadow Paradigm.

Disco nato tra scambi di files tra Shade Slicer (indiano) e Scott Charaund (Americano) disegna dei territori davvero originali e inconsueti che si muovono tra dub elettronico, sonorità quasi world music, incipit di un indie rock trasversale alla Gang Gang Dance o Animal Collective, il tutto con una ricerca che sta tra ambient e break/broken-beats. Una centrifuga di suono assolutamente inconsueta che però è capace di creare un’amalgama sonora che il gruppo stesso ama definire “dimensional indie”.

Sette brani che scorrono come una colonna sonora malata e folle che inserisce campioni ambientali, drammatici, metafisici. Un sound che avvolge, pulsa, fa muovere… una piccola rivoluzione che vede Scott e Shade come due soldati alla conquista di un mondo sonoro oscuro, amaro e soprattutto potente.

Chopigula (pronounced chaw-pig-yoo-la), is the direct result of a cultural fusion between the minds of Scott Chaurand, who hails from Texas, and Shade Slicer, who is from India. Through their eternal quest into the pursuit for knowledge, and by way of their collective exploration into the extra-dimensional fabrics of sound, Scott and Shade serendipitously crossed paths and forged what would become their interminable inquiry into the science of sound and beyond.

Shade, a devout disciple of Helios, and a direct descendent of Hyperion ancestry, learned life’s rhythms from the streets of the Eastern phaze, running from the su(0)n on the other who hails from the Southern Tem of Rexus.  Shade grew up part-time on earth playing the tablas, while Scott worked on harmonic distortions bleeding from the toys of frolicking youth. 

Following several years of detachment from their initial convergence in grammar school, Shade and Scott were once again unified by the gravity of their collective dimensional energies.  Having sworn to an ancient oath of secret generations - in a dimensional fabric unknown to the humans of planet Earth - their crusade to liberate the precious ethereal dimensions of the mind through the science of sound is just beginning.

Chopigula is here to evolve a fresh tier of constructive mycelium, and to unravel the misdeeds of the Earth’s tyrannical sound suppressors.  A purge of the bitter vestiges of capital ruins must be swept before the transition perceptibly swallows acceptance as its pill of convalescence.  Scott and Shade are the soldiers of this sound revolution…
